City of Detroit, Angel Share Partnering to Feed Front Line Workers Amid COVID-19

The tireless work of Detroit first responders and health care workers during the current crisis is admirable and appreciated. Today an initiative to feed Detroit’s frontline workers began to show appreciation in a more tangible way.

The city of Detroit along with organizations such as Angel Share, AAA, and Quicken Loans among others are securing funds to feed those workers with the best food from Detroit area restaurants and businesses.

Here’s how it works:

  • Restaurants sign up using www.feedthefrontlinesdetroit.com capturing restaurant name,
capacity, cost per meal, and other information
  • Donors also can contribute to www.feedthefrontlinesdetroit.com
    • Quicken Loans is offering $25,000 match of funds raised through crowdsourced
      fundraising efforts.
  • City of Detroit staff orders meals and coordinates with first responder liaisons to
    distribute
  • Angel Share manages all payments.

Businesses can sign up beginning today.  The first meal delivery is scheduled for Monday.

Diversified Members Credit Union has already contributed $15,000. CEO, Kathie Trembath, says,

“I believe it’s important that we all come together to lessen the burden for our first responders during these unprecedented times…We thank the heroes who are protecting us on the front line and hope that our donation provides some assistance during this period of uncertainty.”
