Chris Brown Breaks Up With Girlfriend To Continue “Friendship” With Rihanna

Well, well, well. What do we have here? Followers of Chris Brown and girlfriend Karrueche Tran are shocked (note sarcasm) by the news that the rebound relationship is officially over. Even more interesting, the “Don’t Wake Me Up” singer admits that the split is over his rekindled “friendship” with his ex-toxic flame, Rihanna, reports the NY Daily News ^[1].

“I have decided to be single to focus on my career. I love Karrueche very much but I don’t want to see her hurt over my friendship with Rihanna,” Chris Brown tells Confidenti@l through his spokesman on Thursday. “I’d rather be single allowing us to be both be happy in our lives.”

As previously reported by NewsOne ^[3], Rihanna and Brown have been testing the waters of public reaction since they decided to eat each other’s “Birthday Cake” all over the airwaves. They took it a step farther at the MTV Video Music Awards when the “Diamonds” singer warmly hugged Brown and rubbed her hand intimately over his head as she walked to her seat.

Facing scrutiny from a judge concerning potential probation violations stemming from his violent assault of Rihanna in 2009, Ms. Rih-Rih took to the Twittersphere to show support of her “friend”:

Brown and Rihanna have been spotted partying all over New York since Monday night, kissing, dancing and even disappearing in to a bathroom together for nearly 20 minutes.

As Confidenti@l reported on Wednesday, Tran and Brown have been on the rocks due to his relationship with the “Diamonds” singer, which hit a high early Tuesday morning when sources saw the former lovers kissing on the dance-floor of the Meatpacking club Griffin. Brown was then spotted on Tuesday leaving Rihanna’s hotel that same day.

Tran and Brown have cryptically been tweeting the demise of their nearly two year relationship, with Tran blabbing on the social media outlet: “Bye baby” on Wednesday after Brown tweeted: “Both r Free from it all!”

Brown and Rihanna have been spotted partying all over New York since Monday night, kissing, dancing and even disappearing in to a bathroom together for nearly 20 minutes.

The exes were spotted at 1Oak on Tuesday night, and Jay-Z’s concert at the Barclay’s Center on Wednesday night.

Incidentally, Brown was also spotted leaving Rihanna’s hotel room — again — Wednesday night after the concert.

At least they are finally being semi-honest about their relationship. They are two adults who apparently still want to be together. Hopefully, for Rihanna’s sake, Brown has learned his lesson.
