Peteet’s Famous Cheesecakes, home of the two-layer cheesecake, will feature the authentic paczkis recipe from Hamtramck baker who recently shut his doors after 46 years.
West Bloomfield, MI (February 16, 2015) – Paczki purists are in for a traditional Fat Tuesdaytreat with a twist from Peteet’s Famous Cheesecakes. Doors at the Oak Park and West Bloomfield locations will open at the 6:00 a.m. offering a full range of fruit filled cheesecake paczkis. For customers looking to spice it up on Fat Tuesday, liquor infused margarita paczkis will also be available.
Last month, Borivoji Stameski, former owner of Sunny Side Bakery in Hamtramck, shared his paczkis secret recipe from his beloved bakery with Peteet before retiring and closing his business. Stameski’s recipe has been incorporated into what is now Peteet’s Famous Cheesecakes paczkis. In addition to the recipe, Stameski, also sold his specialized paczkis baking equipment to the younger baker.
“I’m honored that Borivoji passed the baton to me,” said Patrick Peteet, owner of Peteet’s Famous Cheesecakes.
“Using the new authentic recipe allows us to share an important part of this region’s culinary history with our customers, and continue the legacy of paczkis artisan baking. While you can go anywhere to get a paczkis, only at Peteet’s Famous Cheesecake can you get a cheesecake paczkis.”
Peteet’s Famous Cheesecakes makes the custard filling from scratch for his cheesecake paczkis. While he won’t reveal his new secret recipe or ingredients, he did share that he tempers the custard for the paczki filling. The Cheesecake Packzi Donuts will include the following flavors: Original, Blueberry, Raspberry, Lemon & Margarita.
