The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History will host a live stream of the ribbon cutting ceremony and opening of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History in Washington, D.C., Saturday September 24, 2016. Ceremony prelude live streaming will begin at 9:30 AM and the ceremony program begins promptly at 10:00 am. This free event takes place at The Wright Museum, located at 315 E. Warren Avenue in Midtown Detroit’s Cultural Center.
Senior Vice President of Education & Exhibitions, LaNesha DeBardelaben says, “The Wright Museum is delighted that another institution will now tell the monumental story of African American history. There is so much to the black experience that one, two, or even 100 museums cannot tell it all. We are elated to see this national museum open its doors to honor the sacrifices and interpret the stories of African Americans.
