The Chandler Park Conservancy, in conjunction with event sponsors invites Eastside and surrounding community residents will welcome over 100 volunteers from FCA (Chrysler), Lear Corporation, St. John Hospital and Medical Center and local neighborhoods to the 2nd Annual Chandler Park Clean-Up Day on Friday, May 15, 9:00 am.  Volunteers will clean-up and plant trees until noon, when lunch and a program will start.
The Greening of Detroit and Wayne County Parks are co-sponsors of the event.
“This tree planting and clean-up is part of the Conservancy’s long term plan to re-forest Chandler Park, which lost much of its tree canopy in the tornado of 1997,” said Maggie DeSantis of Eastside Community Network and Conservancy Board Member. “This clean-up is also part of the launch of a long list of summer and fall activities planned for the Park” she added.
Parking is at the Wayne County Aquatic Park, with a short walk to “clean-up central” where volunteers will gather at 9:00, and commence work at 9:30 am.
