DJ Casper, the creator of the international hit “Cha Cha Slide,” has died at 58 years-old.

According to his wife, the Chicago native lost his battle with cancer on Monday.

Mr Magique, a global consultant to international artist Dionn Reneé says Reneé developed a strong relationship with Casper and the two became great friends. “We’re talking two very talented individuals and close friends, the family even asked that she takes his pictures, Mr Magique,” says. “It’s a sad day he’s been taken from us.”

Casper’s dance line was one of the most popular dance line which brought friends and families together on the dance floor. Casper and the popular song he created became a word-wide sensation. He would go on to perform his music hit as he toured city after city. He came up with one of the most popular line dances to date. Yet, he never forgot where he came from.

A report from ABC7 in Chicago chronicles his music career and health struggles. The interview back in May would be his last as he vowed to remain positive despite his health challenges.
