Did you know that August 11 is 811 Day? Digging without knowing the location of underground utilities can result in serious injuries, service disruptions, and costly repairs when gas, electric, communications, water or sewer lines are damaged.
By calling MISS DIG (a nonprofit that operates as the Underground Utility Safety Notification System for the entire state) at 8-1-1 before you start digging in your yard you can protect yourself, your loved ones and your community.
During this year’s 811 DAY celebration, DTE Energy was out reminding folks to call MISS DIG at 8-1-1 before digging in their yards (especially this summer!). This way DTE can come to mark underground energy lines so no one accidentally hits one. Learn more at www.missdig811.org.
