CDC’s Eviction Moratorium Extension Helps Renters

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) extended its federal eviction moratorium, which will bring rent relief to millions of renters, according to Black Enterprise.

As of February, 56% of Black renters were behind on their rent and were concerned about having to leave their homes due to evictions before CDC made their recent move, NPR reported.

This is the third time the agency was pushed the eviction deadline back because of the coronavirus pandemic. The first order was made last September and was set to expire at the end of last year — but was extended in December.

The last extension was going to expire at the end of March, leaving millions questioning if they might be kicked out of their home while the pandemic continues and cases have been on the rise for the last two weeks.
