The College for Creative Studies (CCS) is pleased to announce its 2023 Woodward Lecture Series, featuring renowned artists Mario Moore, vanessa german and Olayami Dabls.
This year’s installment will begin with Mario Moore’s lecture on Wednesday, March 1 at 6 pm at the Wendell B. Anderson Auditorium on the college’s Ford campus. vanessa german’s lecture is slated for March 29 at 6 pm, and Olayami Dabls’ lecture will take place on April 5 at 6 pm.
Since 1998, The CCS Woodward Lecture Series has remained one of Southeast Michigan’s most prominent visiting speaker series, attracting over 100 renowned artists, critics and scholars to Detroit. It’s an invaluable resource for CCS students and the public alike, and central to CCS’s interdisciplinary curriculum. In addition to public lectures, Woodward Lecturers directly engage with CCS students through critiques and roundtable discussions, fostering a greater understanding of and appreciation for contemporary art and culture.
The Series is made possible by a generous endowment gift from an anonymous donor. Over the years, The CCS Woodward Lecture Series has attracted many influential speakers including Dawoud Bey, Roberta Smith, John Chamberlain, Holland Cotter, Tyler Green, Rebecca Mazzei & John Yau, Ryan McNamara and many more.
All lectures are free and open to the public. Seating and parking are available on a first come, first serve basis.
