ANN ARBOR — The University of Michigan travels to Indiana University this Saturday in hopes that it can elevate its record to a lofty 5-0. Remember, the Wolverines started last season 4-0 before its monumental collapse.
It is always puzzling when a well-known recording artist takes an inordinately long time to release a new album. It would seem that their creative nature would make not making new music frustrating, that the recording studio would beckon.
The word transformation — “a dramatic or thorough change in form or appearance” — definitely applies in the world of show business. Whether what developed was self-induced or just part of a natural process, some of the changes have been attention-grabbing.
A quick confession. I don’t know Detroit’s new police chief, Ralph Godbee, aside from what has been reported in the media lately about him and that he is also a minister. I know he appears to be smarter than his former boss, Kwame Kilpatrick, because when confronted with allegations of a sex-text recently, between him and a subordinate officer, Godbee did the right thing by admitting and apologizing to his family and the public right away. He did not deny the allegations as some arrogant taxpayer-funded officials would do, thinking it would only be a one-day story.
