Cardinal Health officials, Detroit City Council and Detroit Medical Center exec-utives will announce this morning the official opening of the $28 million Cardinal Health Distribution Center, an economic anchor in the city's revitalization near Midtown.
A juxtaposition of old and new Detroit, the distribution center sprouted
from withering, desolate fields into a sprawling commercial development,
enhancing the Rosa Parks Boulevard neighborhood, bringing job growth and
stirring aspirations and optimism for future economic renewal. Cardinal
Health provides essential medical supplies, pharmaceuticals and other
services to health care providers.
A multi-year project, the distribution center was a collaboration of
leading health care institutions in Detroit Henry Ford Health System and
Detroit Medical Center Cardinal Health, a $91 billion health care services
company that improves the cost effectiveness of health care, and KIRCO, the
Troy-based real estate development, investment and construction company.
Henry Ford and DMC are the two largest customers of Cardinal Health in the
Michigan market.
Cardinal Health Distribution Center is located at 6000 Rosa Parks Blvd., on thecity's westside.
