Calling all artisans, entrepreneurs, chefs, and culture curators: the African World Festival (AWF) is back this summer, and vendor applications are now officially open!
Mark your calendars for July 18 to 20, 2025. The African World Festival is making a triumphant return to the breathtaking Hart Plaza on Detroit’s picturesque riverfront. Join us for an unforgettable three-day celebration that honors the rich tapestry of African diasporic culture, history, art, and community. Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to immerse yourself in the vibrancy and diversity that unite us all!
Hosted by the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, this year’s festival holds special significance as the institution marks its 60th anniversary, a milestone sure to be reflected in the energy and excellence of the event.
With over 150,000 attendees expected, AWF is the largest cultural festival in the Midwest. Vendors play a critical role in bringing the heartbeat of the festival to life whether it’s through handcrafted goods, Afrocentric apparel, jewelry, home décor, or mouthwatering cuisine from across the African diaspora.
Organizers are currently seeking both food and retail vendors to be part of the experience. As part of this commemorative year, each application will be individually reviewed and juried by the AWF festival team between May 5 and May 9, 2025, ensuring a diverse, high-quality vendor lineup.
Selected vendors will begin receiving acceptance notifications the week of May 20, along with invoices and detailed setup instructions. Whether you’re a returning favorite or a first-time vendor, this is your opportunity to reach thousands of festivalgoers while celebrating African heritage through your craft.
Don’t miss your chance to be part of Detroit’s largest cultural gathering!
