Denise Helms of Turlock, Calif. was apparently unaware when she posted the bigoted statement that threats against the President of the United States are a felony punishable by five years imprisonment.

Denise Helms “didn’t think it would be that big of a deal,” to post on Facebook calling the president a racial slur then mentioning a possible assassination.
A California woman is being investigated by the Secret Service after posting a racist Facebook message about President Barack Obama that also referred to his assassination.

Denise Helms was apparently unaware when she posted the bigoted statement that threats against the President of the United States are a felony punishable by five years imprisonment.

“Another 4 years of this (N word) … Maybe he will get assassinated this term,” wrote Helms, who lives in Turlock, Calif., near Modesto.

An ex-boyfriend reposted a screengrab of the comments, which were quickly met with a barrage of criticism and the Secret Service investigation.

Helms was also fired from her job at an ice cream parlor this week. On Twitter, Cold Stone Creamery said it was “disgusted” by the racist, threatening remarks.

Helms has deactivated her Facebook account.

Helms apparently has several racist friends, because a few people “liked” the comment.

The 22-year-old has remained unapologetic and even told Sacramento’s FOX40 that she doesn’t understand why she’s in trouble.

“I didn’t think it would be that big of a deal,” Helms said.  “I’m not saying like I would go do that or anything like that, by any means, but if it was to happen, I don’t think I’d care one bit,” she said.

Helms also doesn’t consider herself a racist.

“So apparently my post last night about Obama got onto Twitter and Fox 40 came and interviewed me cause apparently a lot of people in Sacramento think I’m crazy and racist. WOW is all I got to say!! I’m not racist and I’m not crazy. just simply stating my opinion.!!!,” she wrote on Facebook Thursday.

She has since deleted her account.

The Secret Service told the Modesto Bee newspaper it takes every possible threat against the president seriously but would not give details about Helms’ case.
