Black Women Disappointed at Derrick Jaxn — Don’t Be

Famous relationship influencer Derrick Jaxn let more than his wife down when he was exposed for stepping outside of his marriage this past week. He let down the hordes of Black women who followed him and supported him, ESSENCE reports.

Jaxn and his wife’s recent interview on the situation went viral and almost immediately memes, fan response videos, statements, and reactions followed on Twitter, Instagram, Youtube and TikTok — the comment sections were just as lit.

It’s because many women have all been there where they were led to believe a story of a person that wasn’t true. Many also bought and believed in a lie. One million plus YouTube subscribers followed him. He put in the work with 12 books (two ironically titled A Cheating Man’s Heart, Parts 1 & 2), paid premium subscription group, countrywide appearances (including ESSENCE Festival and Wellness House). Too many single or unhappy women in a relationship were inspired by Jaxn who they labeled as a “champion, advocate and even savior” from men’s woes, and didn’t see this coming.

But now that it is here, use this hurtful opportunity to look within — your relationship with your own self. Your confidence in your own self and grow. What do your actions and feelings tell you to do every day? Create time to connect with that person and evaluate how to heal if there needs to be healing.

Forgive yourself, too. Acknowledge that Jaxn and all influencers are human. And speak blessings over his wife and children. Trust yourself and grow from there.
