Black Leaders Detroit (BLD) will host a day party on Sunday, September 11 at Riverside Marina, 11000 Freud St. in Detroit.
The inaugural event will launch a celebration to promote economic empowerment for Black-led businesses in fashion.
Each registered business will send a sponsored model, in an outfit of their choosing, to showcase at Detroit Drip. The audience will vote who represents Detroit Drip in the categories of formal, urban, men’s and women’s apparel. The voting will take place every 45 minutes to award a Black-led business with an unrestricted $5,000 grant.
Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at detroitdrip.org. All proceeds will fund Black Leaders Detroit’s mission to provide financial support for diverse social and community impact projects originated and led by Detroiters of African descent.
Black Leaders Detroit is an organization that strives to diminish socioeconomic disparities. Through cooperative economics, BLD has funded $568,000 to Black-led businesses and organizations. Essentially, BLD’s plan is to recruit a million members to contribute $1/week to change lives and impact Black residents and communities in Detroit.
