Detroit residents will have the chance to become versed in business during the Black Business Resource Expo. The Civil Rights, Inclusion, and Opportunity Department along with Councilman James Tate will host the event at Wayne County Community College NW Campus (Denise Wellons-Glover Welcome Center) on February 28 from 11 AM to 2 PM.
“The Civil Rights, Inclusion and Opportunity Department has enjoyed executing an action-packed Black History Month,” said Charity Dean, Director of CRIO. “We are excited to close out the month empowering businesses with the resources, connections and knowledge needed to scale and successfully do business in Detroit! Black businesses are crucial to the growth and sustainability of Detroit neighborhoods.”
The Black Business Resource Expo will provide business resources, networking opportunities and resources to all participants at the event. Also, four breakout sessions (Google Ads Sessions, Locating your business in Detroit, Doing Business with the City of Detroit, and Crafting your business strategy) will take place at the expo.
According to the U.S. Census, in 2012, there were 50,946 minority-ran businesses in Detroit. This number is expected to triple as the 2020 Census commences.
