Big Brothers Big Sisters to celebrate annual 'Big Event'

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit (BBBS) is holding its annual “Big Event” celebrating its mentors, mentees and reaching out to supporters and new friends.
“The Big Event” is scheduled to take place in the heart of the Greektown Dining and Entertainment District on October 16, 2015 at the International Banquet Center, 400 Monroe Street, 8th Floor, Detroit, MI 48226 from 7:30 to 11:00pm.
“The Big Event” is a gala of networking and learning more about Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit, while honoring the “Big” of the year.
Funds raised at “The Big Event” support BBBS successful mentoring programs and initiatives serving youth. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit creates meaningful relationships between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 7 through 18. These professionally-supported relationships have positive and lasting effects on the youth in local communities.
Guests will enjoy an exciting night of dinner and dancing with a Latin American Jazz theme, bringing the rhythms and energy of Latin Jazz to Detroit for a special evening. Music and salsa lessons will be provided by Metro Detroit’s premier Latin Jazz group LL7 (Lynn LaPlante Seven).
“This will be an exciting evening of networking and fun while enjoying the breathtaking views of Detroit’s Greektown,” says Jeannine Gant, BBBS President and CEO. “The positive impacts of our mentoring relationships can last a lifetime. In 2014 our agency was able to serve nearly 1,000 young people throughout Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties; this event recognizes the people who make that happen.”
Tickets include a strolling buffet, salsa instruction and access to wonderful silent auction items. A cash bar is available.
