Beyoncé’s $100,000 Gift to Detroit Tech School Leaves Lasting Impact

In true philanthropic form, Beyoncé made sure that her Renaissance tour brought more than an incredible performance but also carried a profound inspirational mission. When announcing the highly anticipated tour in the beginning of the year the “Cuff It” singer pledged to contribute $1 million in scholarships throughout the tour’s journey, and she has remained steadfast in fulfilling her commitment.

This pass Wednesday Beyonce made her stop in Detroit and despite the rain, devoted fans filled downtown adorned in their finest Renaissance attire. Prior to her arrival, Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD Foundation, a public charity, generously contributed $100,000 in scholarship funding to the Detroit School for Digital Technology (DSDT).

Originally known as Astute Artistry, DSDT was established in 2011, focusing on film production and creative visual effects. Situated in Southwest Detroit, the school is licensed as a post-secondary educational institution by the state of Michigan. To mark the occasion of Beyoncé’s generous donation of $100,000, a special event was organized at the school. Attendees of this event were treated to tickets for Wednesday’s show, making it an extraordinary and unforgettable moment for the institution.

“Today was a truly special day at DSDT, thanks to the BeyGOOD Foundation,” stated a representative of DSDT. “Their generosity was on full display as they donated $100,000 for scholarships and surprised lucky attendees with Beyoncé concert tickets. But that’s not all – they also shared inspiring stories that left a lasting impact on everyone present. What an unforgettable event!”

Founded in 2013, the BeyGOOD Foundation serves as a platform for the multi-talented entertainer to offer support and aid to communities by providing valuable resources and opportunities. The foundation takes pride in its commitment to granting educational scholarships and fostering avenues for gaining experience and job placement for students in need.

“We were delighted to spend the morning with the Detroit School for Digital Technology and announce that DSDT will receive $100K in RENAISSANCE Scholarship funds to support students with financial needs,” the organization said in an Instagram post following the event. “Your commitment to education and elevating your students and communities inspires us.”
