On August 17 there will be a poetry workshop at 1:00 p.m. and a poetic concert at 8:00 p.m.–weather permitting, both events will be held outside in CMAP’s courtyard in Hamtramck. One Single Rose and the Power of Girlhood have conducted school supply drives and poetry workshops in August for the past six years wherein donations are taken in the summer months and donated to a local school as well as to workshop attendees.
This year the workshop will be held in conjunction with CMAP’s summer series wherein the topic of discussion is love, one of the most over-utilized and misrepresented words on the planet. The evening concert featuring poetry, spoken word, and song by One Single Rose and an all-female band will focus on the word love. All events are free and open to the public. School supplies can be dropped off at CMAP from now until August 17th.
