Transitional housing will help patients achieve lifelong recovery
An increase in the number of patients addicted to heroin and other opiates has created new challenges. To respond to the evolving need for addiction services, Ascension Michigan is breaking ground on a new halfway house, located on the campus of Ascension
Brighton Center for Recovery, 12851 Grand River Ave., in Brighton.
The Ascension Brighton Center for Recovery Halfway House, scheduled to open in summer 2022, is a sober living residential facility for men and women to continue their path to lifelong recovery. The home is managed by clinical addiction professionals and is supervised by
Ascension associates 24/7.
“Recovery is not cemented in just a couple of weeks,” said Raymond Waller, hospital administrator at Ascension Brighton Center for Recovery. “This temporary residence provides patients with the time, support and confidence they need to gain a lasting foundation of
sobriety,” said Waller. “Additionally, the home-like environment can effectively transition a patient into a positive routine that helps them reach their goals and potential,” he added.
Currently, patients tackling drug or substance abuse can utilize a wide range of services offered by the center including counseling and spiritual support, nutrition education and healthy recreation. According to Waller, treatment programs are in high demand due to the recent public health issue driving addiction in both adults and children, which inadvertently increases trauma and mental health issues in children. “This house is a continuum of addiction treatment and a critical piece of the puzzle,” said Waller.
For more than 65 years, Ascension Brighton Center for Recovery has helped thousands of men and women break the chains of addiction and achieve sobriety. For general information about Ascension Brighton Center for Recovery, please call 888-215-2700 or 810-227-1211.
