Public viewing for Mariah Rayne Davis, 5, and the fifth child in the six weeks since Easter who has been shot or shot themselves in accidentally will have a public viewing on Monday, May 16, at Swanson Funeral Home located at 14751 W. McNichols Rd. from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Davis accidentally shot herself after herself after removing the gun from under her grandmother’s bed pillow when the grandmother left her bedroom to cook downstairs around midnight.
Little Miss Davis’ family hour will be held on Tuesday, May 17 at Second Ebenezer Church 14601 Dequindre Rd. at 10:00 a.m., with funeral services at 10:30 a.m and internment at Mt. Hope Memorial Gardens in Livonia.
Relatives say she was playing with the weapon when it went off and a bullet struck her neck.
“It was an awful tragedy that has all of us shook up and our heart broke,” her aunt, Freda Davis, told WWJ 950. “It seems like our souls was ripped out of us, she was a lovely little girl, all she loved to do was sing.”
Two other children, aged 1 and 3 years, were also home but were not physically harmed.
