CBS announced that after being on the air for over half of a century, they are canceling the daytime soap opera “As The World Turns,” according to USA Today.
The final episode is scheduled to air next September during its 54th year on the air.
The network, which earlier this year also cancelled “Guiding Light,” the oldest daytime drama, is pulling the plug after enduring years of declining ratings, leaving only two CBS daytime dramas left, “The Young and the Restless” and “Bold and the Beautiful.”
“As The World Turns” helped launch the careers of many actors, including James Earl Jones, Melissa Tomi, Meg Ryan and Tamara Tunie.
