Guests will enjoy the sensational sounds of Motown as well as dinner, drinks and raffled prizes
Band of Brothers presents Alexander Zonjic Meets Motown at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 16 at the Lafayette Grande Center Crystal Ballroom, 1 Lafayette St., Pontiac. The event will feature the widely recognized jazz favorite Alexander Zonjic as well as a group that is dedicated to recreating some of Motown’s greatest hits, Serieux Motown Review. Tickets are $75 and include valet parking, beer, wine and a strolling dinner.
All proceeds support Grace Centers of Hope (GCH) and its new William A. Davis Women and Children’s Center in Pontiac. The 22,000 square foot facility, opening in May of 2016, will offer assistance to the increasing and alarming number of homeless women and children in southeast Michigan.
“It’s no secret that the Motown era produced sensational music, featuring a widely recognized line-up of talented performers,” said Zonjic. “Guests at the event will enjoy a wonderful evening filled with great music and walk away with the satisfaction that they are supporting local homeless women and children.”
As a professional flutist, Zonjic has performed worldwide with guest appearances by the renowned
Kenny G. He also has played with the two-time award winning smooth jazz keyboardist Bob James and American Music Awards nominated best soul/R&B female artist, Angela Bofill. Zonjic attended the University of Windsor where he studied classical music and was later instructed by Ervin Monroe, the principal flutist of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Zonjic has released albums over the last three decades playing everything from jazz and classical to rock and pop.
“We are truly grateful to Alexander Zonjic and the Serieux Motown Review for helping us raise funds for and build awareness of our mission,” said GCH CEO Pastor Kent W. Clark. “The money raised will directly support programs and services that reach some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
The new women and children’s center will expand GCH’s current capacity for homeless women and children by 200 percent, making the nonprofit organization one of the largest providers in Michigan. According to the National Coalition Against Homelessness, women and children make up the fastest growing segment of the US homeless population.
