Guess who’s coming to town?
The National Medical Association last visited Detroit in 1979. The 113th annual African American Physicians convention will be held downtown from July 31 to August 5.
“The City of Detroit, with its beautiful landscape on The Detroit River and views of Canada is such a perfect spot for our summer convention,” said auxiliary president Velva S. Clark. “The all-new Cobo Hall is a great venue for us and everyone we’ve worked with from the city has been very welcoming.”
More than 3,000 physicians are expected to attend this year’s six-day convention, which includes workshops and events. The event is free to the public and no reservations are required.
The NMA is an organization comprised of thousands of African American physicians, academicians and scientists who work in various medical sectors.
