Activist Raquelle Trammel received the Spirit of Detroit, the office of City Councilmember Gabriela Santiago-Romero reported this past week.

Trammel, whose work intersects gaining more media invisibility for trans women of color and HIV advocacy, has been nationally recognized for her activism. Her accolades include being on the POZ 100, which recognizes the work of HIV advocates, for two years in a row; her podcast, “Miss Mouthy,” being recognized as one of the top 50 that people should listen to; and being named as the 2022 Trans Artist of the Year by the I Am Human Foundation.
