Jaden Smith is stepping into the fashion world with a new career move.

According to PEOPLE, Smith, 27, has been named men’s creative director for the French luxury fashion house Christian Louboutin.

The rapper and actor will oversee four men’s collections annually, covering shoes, leather goods, and accessories, while also shaping the brand’s visual and emotional identity through marketing campaigns, events, and experiences.

Smith’s appointment comes after he met designer Christian Louboutin six years ago in Paris, marking the start of their long-standing friendship.

“When I first met Jaden, I saw in him a natural fit for the Maison,” Louboutin said in a press release. “His world is rich and multidimensional, his style and cultural sensibility are inspiring and his curiosity and openness are remarkable. I felt that with his creative direction, our men’s collection would evolve in an exciting and dynamic way.”

Smith has been known to make bold fashion choices, like wearing a castle on his head to the 2025 Grammy Awards and accessorizing with his cut-off locs at the 2017 Met Gala. He said the Louboutin partnership “comes quite naturally.”

“There’s a shared respect for creative freedom, and I think that’s why it works,” he said. “I want to continue the story, honoring the past while shaping the future through my own perspective.”

“It isn’t just a title — it’s a creative home. Christian has given me a place to explore, to learn, and to create freely. His legacy is built on hard work and joy, and I want to carry that forward,” Smith added.

Smith is set to move to Paris to begin his work with the brand.
