The spring equinox is also called the first day of Spring and often celebrated as a time of renewal and rebirth. Plants are sprouting. Winds are softening. Many cultures celebrate spring festivals and holidays–like Easter and Passover–around the equinox.
Spring is a great time to plant seeds for new projects and goals. From Spring training to Spring cleaning the sunrise is earlier now, and nightfall comes later inspiring us to clear out clutter and do more.
Here are five ways to celebrate and maximize the new Spring Season:
- Come Out Of Hibernation
In Detroit, it’s a great time to break out of the winter blues. Time to ditch the layers and get back in touch with Mother Nature. Take some time to celebrate the new life that surrounds you in nature. Watch the sunrise or sunset, go for a walk in the park, take a bike ride, lay in the grass, or take a hike. As you do so, observe all the new life beginning around you.
- Plant Seeds
Spring is a good time of year to start planting your flowers and gardens if you haven’t already. If you live in an area where it is still not possible to plant anything, you can start some plants indoors or get your yard and garden ready for late spring plantings.
- Spring Clean
With all this fresh, cleansing spring energy in the air, this is the perfect time to spring clean your body, your mind, your emotions, and your home.
Take a look around you at what is old and out-dated. What are you holding onto that you no longer need? What old beliefs and emotional ties are holding you back? How can you make better nutritional choices to maintain optimal health?
Let go of things that you no longer need, and move into the season with a fresh, clean spring in your step.
- Set Intentions For New Beginnings
Solstices and equinoxes are a great time to let go of the old and begin anew. As the days start to grow longer and the temperatures begin to warm, people start to spend more time outdoors. It is a great time to begin something new.
- Make a list of everything you’ve wanted to do.
- Pick your top three choices.
- Make a plan to start one and go from there. Don’t know where to start?
- Find Balance
Day and night are of equal length on the equinox, so this is a great time to take a life review and make sure that you are as “in balance” as nature is.
Spring is an excellent opportunity to take an honest look at all areas in your life and find as much balance as you can, so you can blossom and grow into a happier, healthier, and more balanced you.
