Pump prices stable as holiday weekend nears
Are you traveling this holiday weekend?
Prices at the pump are expected to remain as is according to the AAA Michigan Fuel Gauge Report released this week.
The stabilization in price is due to a number of factors, including refineries increase in effective production tactics and the decrease in the number of malfunctions at various sites. Gas prices last year at this time were up nearly a $1.01 from today’s average price of $2.88/per gallon.
Prices are expected to continue to be sold at consistent numbers as the United States and other manufacturing countries continue to produce gas at a record pace.
Fireworks: Thrill and dangerous
This time of year presents a number of seasonal festivities; grilling, outside parties, cookouts and fireworks. The latter comes with both its fun and its extreme dangers.
“Fireworks are a risky thrill and are best left to professionals,” State Fire Marshal Richard Miller said. “If you do plan to shoot your own fireworks, remember you are playing with explosives and that if used incorrectly, can cause irreparable injury and harm.
Fireworks are typically set in the evening, considering the nature of explosives and limited visibility can become dangerous. Be sure to prepare the area in which the fireworks will be lit and ensure those who are watching are out of harm’s way.
“Both consumers and certified fireworks retailers together must make safety their top priority and responsibility,” said Miller.
