The President made a statement on the U.S. action moving forward regarding Ukraine. President Obama said, “The future of Ukraine must be decided by the people of Ukraine. That means Ukraine’s sovereignty and integrity must be respected.”
This statement comes after the Crimea region of Ukraine voted to join Russia, a move Obama told Russian President Vladimir Putin “would never be recognized” by the United States.
“Throughout this process we are going to stand firm in our unwavering support for Ukraine,” Obama said. “The United States stands with the people of Ukraine and their right to determine their own destiny.”
