Southfield Summer Soulstice, a family festival and running event, which made its debut in 2014, returns on Saturday, June 18 at sunset. This year’s event is moving to the brand new four lane Evergreen Road, with evening festivities held on the renovated Southfield Civic Center front lawn.
Southfield Summer Soulstice, presented by Vibe Credit Union, offers participants a 5K walk/run, which are available to all ages and abilities. Runners will be encouraged to stay after to enjoy the day with their friends and families who are there to cheer them on. The event also offers a one mile family sunset stroll, music stage, Yoga Soul, kids’ activities, a Michigan craft beer tent, BBQ and much more, until 11p.m. This year’s event will introduce a new 1/3 mile Kids’ Fun Run for children 10 years old and under.
“The excitement regarding the Southfield Summer Soulstice continues to grow,” said Race Director Gregg Leshman with Run as One Productions, LLC. “Thanks to the City of Southfield and our other sponsors, we had such great participation in our first and second year, with over 2,000 attendees and participants. We look forward to building on that excitement and with the change of the Start and Finish lines and venue, this year will be bigger than ever.”
Southfield Summer Soulstice is possible due the support of LTU and the Southfield City Business Development Office, Southfield City Centre Advisory Board, Southfield Parks and Recreation, Southfield Planning, Southfield Police and Fire Departments and the Southfield Area Chamber of Commerce. Proceeds from the Southfield Summer Soulstice benefit a variety of charities, including Make-A-Wish Michigan, Southfield Goodfellows, Southfield Firefighters Charities, and Friends of Southfield Police Department.
