Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon believes the job to serve is both a calling and a long-term career path. New officers are paid a salary of $31,182 (bi-weekly pay period) with full benefits, as of October 1, 2016. This is based on a 40 hour work week.
At the time of application and appointment ELIGIBLE PERSONS must:
- Be a citizen of the United States; AND
- Be 18 years of age or older and have a high school diploma or GED; AND
- Be qualified to obtain a concealed pistol license; AND
- Have a valid Michigan Driver’s License and a good driving record; AND
- Have passed the Michigan Sheriff’s Coordinating and Training Council’s (MSCTC) examination and standards for corrections officers (see empco.net for details)
- Have passed the MSCTC Physical Agility test (see misctc.org for details)
