Sony Wants Idris Elba to Play James Bond, Leaked Emails Say

Vibe Presents The 4th Annual Quincy Jones Achievement Awards
The scandal-plagued email leaks at Sony continue even after the FBI discovery that North Korea is the likely culprit.
This time, however, this leak is surprisingly positive. Sony wants lady-favorite Idris Elba to be the next James Bond.
An exec is interested in casting Elba the first black “007” agent.
Sony Pictures Entertainment co-chairman Amy Pascal sent an email to former executive vice president of production for Columbia Pictures Elizabeth Cantillon (who distributes the Bond films) sharing her idea of the British star taking on the “007” role. In an email sent on Jan. 4th (of this year), Amy writes, “Idris should be the next bond,” the Daily Beast reported.
No word from Sony Pictures if they will follow through on their aspirations now that the secret has become public.
