Professional Medical Center partners with Social Service Agencies to Provide Resources for HIV/ AIDS Patients

Professional Medical Center (PMC), Matrix Human Services and AIDS Partnership Michigan are partnering to ensure patients diagnosed with HIV/AIDS get the treatment and resources they need. Through The Ryan White HIV/ AIDS program, a federal grant administered by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, more than 600 individuals living with HIV/AIDS in Michigan receive assistance. The program provides medical care for individuals living with HIV/AIDS that are without health care coverage or need assistance in paying high premiums and co-pays for treatment.  Through this partnership, Professional Medical Center can service anyone in need of medical care, testing or counseling. If eligible, PMC can also enroll patients in the Medicaid program. Our Linkage to Care coordinator, Ellen Anderson, RN, also helps individuals who may need assistance with housing, food, counseling and drug coverage.

“PMC is excited to partner with two well respected social service agencies in the community to ensure people living with HIV/ AIDS are well served,” said Robin Cole, Chief Executive Officer of Professional Medical Center.  According to the Michigan Department of Community Health in 2014 there were nearly 5,728 cases of HIV in the City of Detroit alone. Overall, in the State of Michigan over 15, 000 known cases of HIV have been reported.
