Over the Weekend: Evrod Cassimy Donates to Detroit Students, Releases New Album

ROYAL OAK – Evrod Cassimy, morning news anchor for WDIV-TV Local 4 in Detroit, released his new album, “E3”. He celebrated with a album release party, Saturday evening at Emagine Theatre, Royal Oak.

“E3” marks Cassimy’s third album and includes a charitable initiative to Detroit students.

“This album is a lot of song-writing about what happen over the past year and a half to me,” said Cassimy. “My wife and I celebrated 12 years of marriage, we had our third child, I went through COVID and battled that pretty hard, and I just wanted to have fun and show people songwriting and vocals on this third album.”

From featured songs such as “U Know, U Know” and “Mama,” “E3” features personal songs about his life beyond the anchor desk.

Evrod celebrated the new album release in a live performance at Emagine Theatre Royal Oak. Cassimy also used to the moment to spotlight The Triangle Society, a non-profit organization which provides funding resources to support education initiatives for Cass Tech High School students. He shared the shared to perform but also give back. A check of $30,000 was presented to the organization for students at the school studying fine arts.

“Performing arts is very important in education,” said Lisa Phillips, Principal, Cass Tech High School. “We look at the academics, but we must be mindful of performing arts and other things our students are involved in. e have students on Broadway, in movies, our students are all over Hollywood. These funds will help us continue that Cass Tech legacy of performing arts.”

Funds are raised by Cassimy and generous sponsors. The album release party and concert fundraiser was free and open to the public. The event also featured singer Beth, from season 16 of NBC’s The Voice, WJLB DJ Dr. Darius, and radio personality Kirby Gwen as host.
