The Detroit Chapter of the NAACP is informing Detroiters that the social media claiming violence will occur in Detroit this weekend is false.

NAACP President Rev. Wendell Anthony says those social posts were not sent from NAACP and there is no evidence of potential violence.

“Please be aware there is a false social media post circulating as if it is from the NAACP warning of potential violence from white supremacists groups this weekend,” Anthony confirmed to WXYZ. “This post doesn’t come from the NAACP nor have they received any credible threats. The Detroit Branch NAACP has shared this information with our National NAACP office and local law enforcement. We encourage you to please not continue to post, tweet or share the false information.”
