Keeping Kids’ Minds Fresh During Winter Break

While student excitement builds toward winter break, Detroit Enterprise Academy’s principal is reminding parents about the importance of keeping children engaged in learning even during the holidays.
“This time of year, students really enjoy reading holiday-related books so a trip to the library to stock up on some fresh reading material is a great idea,” said Principal Chanavia Patterson. “We encourage our parents to limit television time and plan a few educational activities over break.”
Patterson shared five fun ways parents can incorporate learning into all of the family fun during the holidays.  Winter break activities can include:

“Two weeks is a long time if a student is not stretching their mind, and we do notice it when school is back in session in January,” Patterson said. “These tips can help eliminate learning loss while allowing students to enjoy time with their families during winter break.”
