James H. Cole Legacy Foundation provides 100 meals To Detroit Firefighters

In honor of National Safety Month, the James H. Cole Legacy Foundation will provide dinner to two local fire stations for the next four weeks as part of their Love Thy Neighbor initiative. “Every day, firefighters put their lives at risk to keep us safe,” said Antonio Green, president of the James H. Cole Legacy Foundation. “The Legacy Foundation and this initiative are extensions of our founding principles of compassion and service to the community. This is just our way of saying thank you to the men and women who sacrifice so much for the community’s safety.”

The two fire stations were chosen because they are the closest to the James H. Cole Funeral Home locations. The funeral home’s main chapel is located at 2624 W. Grand Blvd, only blocks from Engine 39; and its second location is at 16100 Schafer Highway, blocks from Engine 30. “The Detroit Fire Department specializes in saving lives and protecting property, but we couldn’t do it without the commitment from everyone in the community,” said Lieutenant James C. Harris of the department. “We’re humbled that The James H. Cole Legacy Foundation would support us in this

way.” Meals for the initiative will come from Detroit restaurant Buddy’s Pizza and

local gourmet catering company Smokey G’s Smokehouse. Last month, the Foundation provided 200 meals to essential workers at Henry Ford Hospital Detroit and DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital.
