How Will You Spend Your $5,000? ‘Detroit Is Us’ Campaign Accepting Community Investment Fund Applications

Do you have an idea or a passion project that you might need some financial assistance on but might not be sure where?

Look no further. The Detroit Is Us campaign, powered by TandemEd, a media and community development company, and anchored by FORCE Detroit, is accepting applications for the Detroit Is Us Community Reinvestment Fund.

Applications open at 8 a.m. Monday, February 22 and are due by 4 p.m. on March 1, and can be submitted online at www.forcedetroit.org/#detroitisus.

For the competitive awards process, the Detroit Is Us Selection Committee will award funds with preference to applications focusing on one of its three campaign pillars.

These pillars are centered around:

  • Promoting education on Black Terms.
  • Equipping community members with knowledge to secure the money bag.
  • Supporting residents in leveling up their health and wellness.
  • The community investment fund will support youth,  individuals, and families with a passion project, initiative or program that can show a maximum positive impact on Detroit’s Black Community.

The maximum award available through the Detroit Is Us Community Investment Fund competitive process is $5,000. A total of $100,000 is available to support 20 awardees.

After a period focused on collecting stories, young people from the community, Own Your Story Ambassadors, took the compiled information and designed a story-based, media campaign that reflects what it means, and will mean, to be Black in Detroit.  “Detroit is Us” is the campaign theme the young people decided on.
