Issa Rae stars in the film The Lovebirds and in an upcoming one, Spider-Verse.
Issa Rae’s glow up from the Awkward Black Girl to an Insecure Hollywood darling is one for the books.
Rae, known for her comedic timing and hilarious hustle, will be cast as Spider-Woman in the Spider-Verse sequel, ESSENCE reported.
The story originally broke by The Hollywood Reporter, which shared how Rae will be joining the cast of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse as Jessica Drew, also named Spider-Woman.
With fellow actors Shameik Moore (Dope) and Hailee Steinfeld (Pitch Perfect 2) coming back as Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen, Rae’s characters as Spider-Woman is fulfilling a wish for the Marvel fan. Rae wrote on her Instagram story her thoughts on her new role. “The way that I have loved Spider-Man since the third grade. A dream come true.”
