It’s time to get in the zone with soccer season quickly coming upon metro Detroit.

Youth sports organization, N Zone Greater Detroit, is kicking things off in high gear during their first season with soccer their spring soccer league (for three to 12-year-olds) beginning on Saturday, April 30.

Their program will run every Saturday for eight weeks for the standard registration fee of $150. The fee includes the weeks of instruction, uniformed jerseys, and a snack that will be provided to every kid after the game. The organization doesn’t want to leave anyone behind when it comes to the inclusive sport of soccer.

“We are aware that the number one barrier keeping kids from income-restricted families out of youth sports is cost,” they said in an email. “We have partnered with Every Kid Sports to offer Scholarship opportunities to help qualifying families play youth sports. We truly believe that every kid deserves the chance to play sports and experience the positive impact and outcomes experienced through participation.”

Husband and wife team, Philip and Carla Butler are overseeing the N Zone Greater Detroit programming to provide children with the opportunity to learn to love and play sports the right way.

“Our team is dedicated and committed to providing outstanding service to our youth and families. Our desire for each youth is to see growth in their mental, physical, and social well-being while delivering an experience that is uplifting and enjoyable,” the duo said.

Carla Butler told the Michigan Chronicle that the brand-new Redford-based league is part of a franchise, which she and her husband are owners of.

Butler said that soccer parents and kids can expect to just have a one-day commitment on Saturdays to participate in the games and the practices.

“Any kids can play regardless of ability if they play for. We just want to get all kids the opportunity to try soccer,” she said.

Butler added that the league wants to get the word out about them and what they do.

“We’re brand new and we just really want the kids (to have fun),” Butler said. “It’s not all about competition. We really want them to have fun. We want them to learn sportsmanship. We want to give them a safe environment and then also reaching out to those kids who haven’t been able to play because of … price or income restriction,” Butler said.
