The Paul W. Smith Golf Classic introduced “Paul’s PALs,” a new and innovative fundraising program in support of Detroit PAL and the 10,000 young athletes served by its sports and leadership programs. The tournament also announced that playing spots are sold out.

Spearheaded by Paul W. Smith, host of “The Paul W. Smith Show,” on News/Talk 760 WJR, the Paul’s PALs program makes it easy for individual donors to officially support the 2013 Paul W. Smith Golf Classic, held on Aug. 12, 2013 at the historic Detroit Golf Club.

Paul’s PALs are donors who make a minimum donation of $100 to Detroit PAL through the event’s official website, www.paulwsmithgolf.com. The $100 donation makes it possible for at least two young people to participate in Detroit PAL programs. Additional levels for Paul’s PALs include the “Champions Level” for a $500 contribution; the “Masters Level” for a $1,000 contribution; and the “Green Jacket” level at $5,000. To make a donation visit www.paulwsmithgolf.com.

Each year, funds raised through the Paul W. Smith Golf Classic have exceeded the previous year’s proceeds. Since its inception in 2004, the event has raised more than $3.5 million net for Detroit PAL.

From its inception, The Paul W. Smith Golf Classic, to be held this year on August 12, 2013 at the Detroit Golf Club, has enjoyed the support of the corporate community.

The Title Sponsor of the event for the tenth year is News/Talk 760 WJR. Presenting Sponsors include Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, The Chrysler Foundation, Compuware Corporation, Ford Motor Company, General Motors and Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.

News/Talk 760 WJR and Ford Motor Company are ten-year sponsors of the event, as are Absopure Water Company, Aisin World Corp. of America, Delta Airlines, edmund t. AHEE Jewelers, Lear Corporation, Starfire Investment Advisors, and Star Lincoln. A complete list of sponsors is available at www.paulwsmithgolf.com.
