The deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail is soon approaching.
Michiganders looking to vote via absentee ballot by mail have until Friday at 5 p.m. to send in their request.
Michiganders who have already registered to vote can do so in-person from now until Nov. 2 at 4 p.m. The ballot can be requested at your local clerk’s office and must be left inside.
Emergency absentee ballots are available for disabled persons or in the case of a scheduling conflict following the death of a loved one.
Emergency requests for absentee ballots must be made after 5 p.m. Friday and before 4 p.m. Election Day.
“The emergency must have occurred at a time which made it impossible for the voter to apply for an absentee ballot by the statutory deadline for “regular” applications If an “emergency” absent voter ballot is requested, the person making the application may authorize the person delivering the application to pick up and deliver the ballot,” the state said.
First-time voters or Michiganders updating their registration address can get their absentee ballot in-person by 8 p.m. on Nov. 3. This can be done at your local clerk’s office.
