MIAMI — For the past decade, Ford Motor Company has given away one of the vehicles as part of being the main sponsor of the Tom Joyner Cruise.
This year, Ford has upped the ante considerably during the 2015 Tom Joyner Fantastic Voyage. The automaker is giving a lucky cruiser or Tom Joyner Morning Show listener an opportunity to win $30,000 to put towards the purchase of any of their vehicles.
The surprising announcement was made by Shawn Thompson, Ford’s multicultural manager, aboard the mammoth Carnival Breeze just before the ocean liner took off for the Cayman islands and Jamaica.
“I just want to make sure that you hear me when I say that Ford is giving away $30,000 to win ANY Ford,” Thompson announced to thunderous cheers, “to win a Mustang, Expedition, Fusion, Fiesta, F-150 — the total lineup. Listen to Tom’s (Joyner) show in about two weeks and we’re going to make the announcement of who will go home with $30,000
And that was not the end, Thompson informed the throngs of cruisers.
“This is the first time that all of you will be able to take advantage of $750 towards the purchase of a brand new Ford. We’ve never done that before at a Ford event,” Thompson continued.
The Tom Joyner Fantastic Voyage and Ford are working together to help raise awareness and money for HBCUs and to enable more students to attend historically black colleges and universities.
