Continuing its legacy of empowerment and commitment to community development, Focus: HOPE is once again set to host the DTE Tree Trim Academy informational open house in partnership with DTE Energy. This program is a progressive step towards not only training individuals as Skilled Line Clearance Tree Trimmers but also reinforcing green workforce initiatives within the Detroit community.
Focus: HOPE shines as a symbol of transformative change. Established in 1968 following the Detroit civil unrest, the organization has relentlessly battled to eradicate racism, poverty, and injustice for more than five decades. Through extensive programs in early learning, youth development, workforce training, food justice, and advocacy, it has led thousands towards the path of financial independence.
The open house will unfold on Friday, September 29th, 2023, from 10 AM to 2 PM at the DTE Tree Trim Academy Training Center located at 7800 Pierson Street, Detroit, MI 48228. Open to all high school seniors with a valid driver’s license, it also extends a hand to individuals with felony convictions, reinforcing its commitment to inclusive opportunities.
Participants at the event can expect light refreshments and complimentary parking, while they explore the myriad prospects the DTE Tree Trim Academy promises:
- Practical Training: Participants will undergo extensive hands-on training in tree trimming and related skills, laying a solid foundation for a career in arboriculture.
