Real Times Media is once again celebrating the excellence that defines Detroit. The Who’s Who in Black Detroit yearbook is officially open for nominations, spotlighting the people shaping the city’s culture, commerce, and community impact.
The publication — a staple under Real Times Media’s Who’s Who brand — has long served as a living archive of Black achievement. From Cleveland to Chicago, Atlanta, Baltimore, Charlotte, to Columbus, the Who’s Who series has honored business leaders, educators, artists, public officials, faith leaders, and community advocates whose work continues to uplift and transform their cities. Now, Detroit’s edition returns to honor a new generation of leadership and legacy.
Since its founding more than three decades ago, Who’s Who in Black has found itself to be a movement.
Across the country, the series has recognized tens of thousands of professionals and entrepreneurs, documenting the evolution of Black excellence in America’s major metropolitan areas. Each city’s edition is both a celebration and a historical record, capturing the pulse of its Black community through stories of innovation, resilience, and leadership.

For Detroit, this year’s call for nominations signals a new moment of recognition. Real Times Media, headquartered in the city, is inviting residents, organizations, and peers to submit the names of individuals making an impact in every field — from small business owners and civic leaders to educators, creatives, and young professionals blazing new trails.
Submissions are now open through November 17 at midnight. Nominees must submit a high-quality, professional headshot and a brief 150-word biographical sketch highlighting their professional background and community contributions.
Applications can be submitted at www.whoswhoinblack.com/nominate.
Anyone can nominate — including self-nominations. The goal, organizers say, is to ensure that Detroit’s Who’s Who represents the full range of brilliance that defines the city’s Black leadership and legacy.
“Detroit’s brightest, boldest, and most influential — we’re calling you,” the announcement reads. “Think you should be in the book? We do too.”
The initiative will culminate with an exclusive celebration and book reveal on December 5, 2025, where honorees will gather to network, celebrate, and see their names and accomplishments immortalized in print.
The Who’s Who in Black brand has been a cornerstone of cultural preservation, highlighting leaders who drive progress and inspire future generations. Its Detroit edition continues that tradition, shining a light on the individuals who embody the spirit, determination, and innovation that make the city a global symbol of Black excellence.
With nominations now open, Detroiters have the opportunity to ensure their impact — and that of their peers — is recognized for generations to come. As Real Times Media’s call reminds the city: Don’t wait — claim your space among Detroit’s finest.
