Social Tykes will serve as Detroit’s first indoor coworking play space curated to offer a one of its kind, play, work and resource space for Metro-Detroit parents and children. The innovation space is slated to open late summer 2020 in the newly developing Corktown neighborhood.
A Round 15 Motor City Match recipient with awards totaling $60,000, Founder, Raven Fisher wanted to fill a void in the childcare + coworking space as a mother of two. Her brainchild will serve as Detroit’s first coworking play space that will cater to children under the age of 6 while building a community of parents and create an environment that encourages education, fun, community, and creativity.
The 1,700-square-foot space will offer open playtime for a daily or monthly fee for children ages 0-6. It also has co-working-style seating for parents, movement classes for parents and kids and a two- to five-hour drop-in care program. Social Tykes will aim to create a community amongst parents, offering community conversations, training, and resources to help dismantle the loneliness of parenting navigation.
“I experienced postpartum depression, and wanted to bring child guardians together to bridge the gap of loneliness that can sometimes come with new parenthood,” says Raven.
The brand will host a community open house and release the official open date in June 2020. For more information on membership and amenities, please visit www.socialtykesdetroit.com.
