Detroit Teacher, Poet Brenda Perryman dies

Brenda Perryman wore many hats, from educator to local television talk show host, however, what she was most known for is being an inspiration and friend to the community of Detroit.

Perryman died on Sunday night due to complications connected to COVID-19.

Notably, Perryman taught both secondary and collegiate level speech and drama along with touring as an inspirational speaker nationally with “Tampax Total You Tour.”

Passionate about writing and her community Perryman authored several books and her talk show, “Table Talk with Brenda Perryman” tackled many local issues and topics.

Perryman’s extensive portfolio and dedication throughout her life were to be honored later this year as one of the 2020 Michigan Chronicle Women of Excellence.

Renowned Actress Ella Joyce recalls Perry as supportive and sweet, “Just saddened and shocked to hear of Detroit’s Own, Brenda Perryman, passing. She was most intelligent, passionate, supportive, and sweet. She loved and supported the Arts. I am hurt to hear of her passing. Rest in Heaven, my Homegirl.”

Perryman touched many lives that have spanned through generations.
