Detroit Fire Department Warns About Dangers of Fireworks, Talks Safety

Fireworks can be fun to enjoy, but they can be extremely dangerous if used improperly. Tragically, in recent years, two adults from metro Detroit suffered fatal injuries related to fireworks. To help Detroiters enjoy a fun and safe Fourth of July celebration, the Detroit Fire Department is sharing important information about fireworks safety. Executive Fire Commissioner Chuck Simms reminds parents to use extreme caution and follow all laws and instructions when setting off any fireworks devices.

Commissioner Simms stresses that fireworks can be very dangerous in the hands of a child. If residents use fireworks, the Commissioner urges that only legal fireworks as described by the State of Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Bureau (LARA) be purchased and used.
