Detroit Community Against Diabetes (DCAD) to Host Diabetes Disparities Meeting

 

DETROIT, MICH.—(June 5, 2013)—The National Kidney Foundation of Michigan (NKFM) welcomes citizens of Detroit to participate in helping eliminate diabetes-related health disparities in African American adults by attending the NKFM’s Detroit Community Against Diabetes’s (DCAD) monthly coalition meeting. The meeting will take place on June 13, 2013 from 12:00pm-1:30pm at the New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit located at 6330 Pembroke. The meeting will include a free healthy lunch.

This June, the NKFM and DCAD are excited to announce the kick-off of Biking for Good Health. This bi-monthly event started June 1st and will continue on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month at 9am until the end of September. The event will take place at Stopel Park in Detroit, which is located at W. Outer Drive and Evergreen. We are looking for riders of all ages and riding ability.

All Detroit residents are welcome to participate in helping eliminate diabetes-related health disparities in African American adults by attending the monthly DCAD meeting. DCAD strives to promote health equity in Detroit through policy-making, environmental changes, community awareness, and action by developing resources through strategic collaboration. DCAD’s vision for the future is Health, Equity, Access, Learning, and Empowerment in Detroit (HEALED).
