Detroit Academy of Arts and Science is schedule to appear on the nationally televised talk show ‘Ellen’ today at 3 p.m. The school’s choir gained national attention for their rendition of the popular Pharell song ‘Happy’.
Along with their appearance the choir is also surprised with a $50,000 check from Shutterfly during their appearance on the show.

DAAS is a charter school located in downtown Detroit. Eighty percent of its students are at the poverty line, and 98% qualify for free or reduced lunch. Despite these challenges at home, DAAS strives to provide its students with a safe and inspiring environment.
